Tea Party Photo Booth

There's no denying that photo booths have become a very popular party activity recently! And it's very easy to see why considering they are the perfect ice breaker and it encourages guests to document their time at the event! So why not have one at your next tea party? Here are some tips to get you started.

Start out by getting creative with the background! I actually took the lace curtains from my bedroom window and hung them up on an outdoor wall for good lighting, then added some easy decorations. I got the idea for the paper fans craft here a while back and have used them as decorations for my tea parties on multiple occasions. They are so festive and really add a pop of color!

Next find a way to nicely present all of your props! On one side I put my hat boxes filled with scarves. On the other side I've set up my vanity displaying other accessories. A lot of times at parties they're set out off to the side, but consider having them be a part of the decor at your tea party photo booth!

Hats, tiaras, parasols, gloves, fans, and eccentric jewelry. Notice, these are all adornments one might wear or bring to a tea party! I suggest having your guests participate in the photo booth as they arrive. It makes sense to do this first thing because it is the perfect way to get everyone to loosen up AND it also gives your guests the opportunity to wear their chosen accessories throughout the entire party if they so wish!

It makes a fun project going through your closet or searching around the house to find different things to use that you already have! You could also always purchase additional items for the occasion. There are some cute packages available at Party City and on the Oriental Trading website. However I decided to put together some simple homemade props. To do this, I cut out card board into the shapes of tea pots and tea cups. Then I pasted on some decorative paper in the same shape. Finally I stuck wooden skewers up through the bottoms of them. Look how cute they turned out below!

A lot of the time at events it can be easy to get caught up in the moment and forget to capture the fun with photos. Having an entire party activity that revolves around taking pictures completely eliminates the chance of that happening! Which is another reason why you may want to think about incorporating a photo booth into your next tea party!

Spooky Tea Party

My latest tea party was frightfully delightful! I asked my friends if there was a theme they would like for my next tea party and they chose 'spooky'. Since it was still summer at the time, I was careful to not include specifically Halloween/fall time details such as pumpkins. Another one of my goals was to make this event feel eerie and dark, while still maintaining a tea party-esque atmosphere, adding touches of elegance amongst the gore! I set the table with these cut-out sugar cookies that are made to look like decapitated people. (Yikes, maybe I should have put a trigger warning at the top of this post?) I used a Christmas gingerbread man cookie cutter, sliced off the heads before baking, and then added some red icing after they cooled to look like blood. For the second dessert idea, I made red velvet cupcakes and decorated them with dyed pink buttercream frosting to look like brains! My favorite of all the food I served were the "finger sandwiches"! (Get it? S...

Sips by

I was so excited last Christmas when my aunt surprised me with a year long subscription to Sips by ! It's an amazing company that puts together boxes of teas to send directly to your home, personalized with your taste in mind. Since I had such a great experience, I thought I'd share some of the information in case anyone is looking for clever gift ideas for the tea lovers in their lives! When I started it at the end of last year, I was prompted to fill out a little questionnaire on their website so that they could get a sense of the types of teas I like and dislike. They used that information to help determine what to include in my boxes. I was pretty open minded when answering the questions, so I ended up with a wide variety of options. That is exactly what I wanted because it gave me the chance to try teas that I might not have normally purchased myself! Below is a glimpse of what the boxes and their contents look like: Each box came with 4 different kinds of teas to enjoy an...

Murder Mystery Tea Party

I have always wanted to do a murder mystery themed tea party because I thought it might be interesting to combine elegance with just a touch of horror! So this week I finally went ahead and organized one! Special thank you to my mom and dad for helping me with the story line and other details! And thank you also to my grandma, sisters, and the D'Angelo family for attending and participating! For this event I kept the menu relatively basic by preparing simple finger sandwiches (egg salad as well as cucumber) and a fruit tart. To add to the theme, I iced some sugar cookies with black question marks. My mom used the same black icing to draw the outline of a body on top of the cake, but added some colorful flowers to balance out the gruesomeness. ;) The setting was a high school reunion! In attendance was a tough-girl bully, perky ex-cheerleader, glitzy celebrity, exhausted mother, successful business woman, cafeteria lunch lady, and drunken teacher. Each of these party ...
