Alice in Wonderland Themed Tea Room

"Have I gone mad?"
"I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret, all the best people are."

My friends and I loved being "mad" together at the Celebration Tea Room! Now you may remember that I wrote about this location once before. (If not, you can read about my first visit HERE.) Today, though, was my first time in the Alice in Wonderland inspired section of the tea room, and it was a whole new experience! Well, really the service and menu options were the same as I remembered (and just as wonderful as last time too!) It was just the decor that made it feel so different to me, I suppose. As you can see, this room is very much themed after the classic story we all love so much. The details in this room were amazing to me and I'd love to highlight them for you!

The paintings on the walls had to be my favorite because of the beautiful colors and the clever way some characters, such as the singing flowers and caterpillar, were incorporated.

Another creative element in the room was this tree that's trunk served as a home for the White Rabbit! Up above, dangled some festive lanterns, and on one of the branches sat the Cheshire Cat - sometimes, that is! You see, he would appear and then disappear throughout our entire visit, making it fun to predict when we'd get to see him next!

I could tell that special consideration was put into just about each inch of this room. Every aspect of it literally from top to bottom was so well thought out it seems. The ceiling itself was beautiful as was the unique teapot chandelier which hung from it. The floor was even a part of the story with a brick pathway leading you to your table and through the pretend grass.

For this afternoon tea, I ordered a seasonal drink which I believe was called Pumpkin Pie Chai Tea Latte, the Chicken Salad Sandwich, and the Chocolate Shaped Tea Cup (it was 100% edible!)

It was so much fun getting to visit this tea room with my friends Jenn, Megan, and Gloriana! I already can't wait to return for another "mad tea party"!

Spooky Tea Party

My latest tea party was frightfully delightful! I asked my friends if there was a theme they would like for my next tea party and they chose 'spooky'. Since it was still summer at the time, I was careful to not include specifically Halloween/fall time details such as pumpkins. Another one of my goals was to make this event feel eerie and dark, while still maintaining a tea party-esque atmosphere, adding touches of elegance amongst the gore! I set the table with these cut-out sugar cookies that are made to look like decapitated people. (Yikes, maybe I should have put a trigger warning at the top of this post?) I used a Christmas gingerbread man cookie cutter, sliced off the heads before baking, and then added some red icing after they cooled to look like blood. For the second dessert idea, I made red velvet cupcakes and decorated them with dyed pink buttercream frosting to look like brains! My favorite of all the food I served were the "finger sandwiches"! (Get it? S...

Sips by

I was so excited last Christmas when my aunt surprised me with a year long subscription to Sips by ! It's an amazing company that puts together boxes of teas to send directly to your home, personalized with your taste in mind. Since I had such a great experience, I thought I'd share some of the information in case anyone is looking for clever gift ideas for the tea lovers in their lives! When I started it at the end of last year, I was prompted to fill out a little questionnaire on their website so that they could get a sense of the types of teas I like and dislike. They used that information to help determine what to include in my boxes. I was pretty open minded when answering the questions, so I ended up with a wide variety of options. That is exactly what I wanted because it gave me the chance to try teas that I might not have normally purchased myself! Below is a glimpse of what the boxes and their contents look like: Each box came with 4 different kinds of teas to enjoy an...

Murder Mystery Tea Party

I have always wanted to do a murder mystery themed tea party because I thought it might be interesting to combine elegance with just a touch of horror! So this week I finally went ahead and organized one! Special thank you to my mom and dad for helping me with the story line and other details! And thank you also to my grandma, sisters, and the D'Angelo family for attending and participating! For this event I kept the menu relatively basic by preparing simple finger sandwiches (egg salad as well as cucumber) and a fruit tart. To add to the theme, I iced some sugar cookies with black question marks. My mom used the same black icing to draw the outline of a body on top of the cake, but added some colorful flowers to balance out the gruesomeness. ;) The setting was a high school reunion! In attendance was a tough-girl bully, perky ex-cheerleader, glitzy celebrity, exhausted mother, successful business woman, cafeteria lunch lady, and drunken teacher. Each of these party ...
